Learn More About Us:

Our Mission:

It is our mission to save the ocean and natural places by fostering an understanding of them through education, adventures, and outdoor experiences.

Value Driven Model:

All decisions made at CIO are value driven. We consider the impact to the environment and our community and weigh that heavier than the impact to our bottom line. As any business person knows, the bottom line is what keeps us in business, however if we can't stay in business while preserving our values, then we will have to reconsider our business model.

So far our business model has altered considerably based on the above philosophy. We have opted out of extending our lease at Santa Claus Lane in part because selling massive amounts of plastic kayaks contradicts our vision to operate a sustainable business, which is more than a catch phrase to us. A sustainable business considers the impact it's product/service is having on the finite resources of this planet. Plastic kayaks have many pros and we will be the first to say we benefit from this advancement in boat building. However, if we can reduce the number of kayaks that are produced by sharing the resources that have already been put into circulation, our impact into the future is much lower.

Our Adventure Co-Op idea was born from our value driven model. We encourage the community to consider sharing our resources... and the more people that get involved, the lower the price can get!
