Escape the ordinary routine of summer camp and have your kids indulge their sense of adventure (and learn a little too).

Camp activities include surfing and boogie boarding, sea kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, biking, and camping. Campers will engage in experiential learning activities based upon watershed pollution and sustainable use strategies as well as trail etiquette and wilderness survival techniques.

An overnight camping experience will take place at the El Capitan Resort for all campers and their families with a traditional Tri-Tip BBQ and campfire experience with smores and camper performed short skits. A healthy and nutritious lunch along with snacks and beverages will be provided each day.

The Day by Day:

Beach Day- Surfing, kayaking, swimming, boogie boarding, beach games. A complete sand covered soaker to get the week started. Campers will enjoy a traditional picnic lunch with nutritious sandwiches and healthy snacks. Wet-suits recommended.

Back to Nature Day- Biking, hiking and swimming. We will move towards the back country by Paradise Road, a great place for nature hikes and soaking in summer pools. Tasty picnic with snacks provided all day.

Watershed Project- We will journey to Hendry's Beach where we will meet up with the friendly people at the watershed project. Campers will learn about watershed pollution by using microscopes.

Up to El Capitan- Campers are transported to El Capitan Canyon Resort, where they will engage in a low-ropes experience, very similar to climbing. After lunch, campers will forming groups and work on their group projects to share with the parents later that day.

Tri-Tip BBQ at El Capitan- Parents are invited to a delicious BBQ at the beautiful El Capitan Canyon Resort. After dinner, campers will present their projects around a campfire. Parents are encouraged to stay the night in traditional tents (cabins are additional).

Kayaking the Coast- Rising early to a freshly cooked breakfast, campers will head down to the beach to begin their day of kayaking. Parents are invited to stay and kayak with their camper.

Learning Objectives:

  • Through fun experiential learning activities, adventurers will understand how they are the most important players in the future of our natural resources through sustainable usage, low-impact intrusions, and healthy living practices.
  • Fun will always be a fundamental objective each day intermingled with learning lessons that will teach each adventurer ways to protect and preserve their natural resources, starting with daily activities.
  • To spread the message of sustainability and healthy living to the younger generations through first-hand learning activities and the utilization of grass-root programs.
  • It is important to the purpose of YAC to include the whole family in the fun in order to continue the message of sustainability and healthy living.
