Paddle Sports of Santa Barbara Rental/Demo Center dock is loaded with Ocean Kayaks, Hobie Kayaks and Wilderness Systems Kayaks. If you are looking to buy your own kayak, come try before you buy. Your one time rental fee goes towards buying your own kayak. Whether it is a paddle kayak or a pedal kayak, a single or a double, Paddle Sports has everything you need to get out on the water!

We offer reservations online as well as by phone. We have a 2 hr. time slot from 10am-12pm for online paddle kayaks. All online and phone reservations receive 10% discount off their rental fee. We have a limited supply of Hobie pedal kayaks, call in for a reservation and receive a 10% discount.The mornings are the best time to kayak with less wind and calmer seas. Group Rentals:

Paddle Sports of Santa Barbara has largest fleet of rental kayaks on the central coast. We can deliver and pick-up these kayaks from a number of locations along the coast. We have supported adventure races, birthday parties, wedding parties, school groups and a many other large group events from San Luis Obispo to Santa Monica. The pricing is based on the # of kayaks, delivery location and the amount of support the group needs from Paddle Sports on location. Please give us a call and we will provide a quote based on these parameters.

50% deposit is required to hold group kayak reservations and the remaining 50% is due 3 days before the event.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions for Kayak Rentals :

• Any person who paddles or rides on any kayak must be able to swim!
• What about Children?
  • UNDER 12 must be in a tandem kayak with an adult.
  • No more than 2 people per tandem kayak.
  • If under 45 lbs, we must have the correct life jacket for the child for them to participate.
  • 12-18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
• Closed deck kayaks can be rented by those who have completed an introductory sea kayak class or have equivalent experience
• You can go anywhere along the coast. There are no boundaries.
• We do not rent kayaks at or for use at the Channel Islands due to liability restrictions. No exceptions.
• All Kayaks come with life jackets, seats, and paddles.
• Each person needs to read and sign an assumption of risk and liability release waiver.
• Single person kayak weight limit is 300 lbs. Tandem kayak is 450 lbs
• Reservations are recommended on weekends and everyday from July-August.
• Dress to get wet, and bring a dry set of clothing for afterwards.
• We have lockers available at our harbor store only.
• Credit card or Drivers license is held for deposit. Not charged, just held.
